Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the difference between copywriting and content writing?

Copywriting focuses on creating persuasive content that aims to nudge an immediate action, such as clicking a link, buying a product or subscribing to a service. Think along the lines of sales emails, sales pages copy, and landing pages.

Content, on the other hand, aims to inform, entertain, or educate your audience, building a long-term relationship. This can include blog posts, articles, infographics, newsletters and informational web pages.

Both are important and rely on each other.

How do you measure the performance of copywriting and content writing?

Copywriting performance is typically measured by direct response rates, such as sales conversion rates, click-through rates, or the number of leads it’s generated.

For content writing, success might be determined by engagement metrics such as page views, time spent on page, social shares, and the growth of organic traffic.

Can you convert any topic into engaging content or copy?

As someone who regularly writes about garage doors, picture hanging systems and aircon installation, I’d like to think so.

With an understanding of the target audience, nearly any topic can be made engaging. The key lies in finding the right angle, knowing what the reader wants, empathising with their pain points, and then writing in a relatable and accessible manner. Storytelling, humour, and practical insights can transform even the most left-of-centre topics into compelling content or persuasive copy.

Why should businesses invest in professional writing services?

Investing in professional writing allows businesses to show their value proposition clearly and compellingly, distinguishing themselves in a VERY crowded and noisy market.

A professional writer brings a lot to the table: expertise in crafting messages that resonate with the target audience and ensuring content is polished and reflects well on the business’s brand.

Don’t forget, too, a writer can strategically incorporate SEO, enhancing online visibility and attracting more organic traffic.

Can’t Chat GPT take care of it?

Well, not really…. yes, ChatGPT (and other similar AI language programs) really are very cool tools and yes, they can spit out informative and coherent text, sometimes at a level better than 75% of the population can write.

BUT…. the style of AI output is very noticeable and anyone familiar with language patterns can pinpoint the telltale phrasing and vocab a mile away. It’s same-same and not doing you any favours.

Relying solely on AI output without customisation misses a huge opportunity to infuse your brand’s unique voice and story.

It can also lead to content that lacks depth or detail about your products or services, so it’s not very compelling or engaging.

Humanising AI generated content to sound more human-like is a superskill of mine and one of the services I can help you with.
